Commissioners Approve Surplus Distribution Recovery Program

Commissioner of Labor and Industry Steve Sviggum and Commissioner of Commerce Glenn Wilson approved the WCRA Surplus Distribution Recovery Program on June 30. At a special meeting on June 26, the WCRA Board of Directors had adopted several revisions to the Program at the request of the commissioners.

The WCRA will now be able to calculate estimated 2010 assessments for insurers and self-insurers. These estimated amounts will be sent to WCRA members in mid-July. The Department of Commerce is developing procedures for insurers to follow in billing and collecting deficiency assessments from workers’ compensation policyholders beginning January 1, 2010.
