Reinsurance Claims Specialist I 


The Workers’ Compensation Reinsurance Association (WCRA), a nonprofit association providing workers’ compensation reinsurance protection to all Minnesota insurers and self-insurers, is seeking an individual for the position of Reinsurance Claims Specialist I. 

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and evaluate reported claims to assure compliance with statutory requirements and sound workers’ compensation practices. 
  • Reconcile members’ requests for reimbursement 
  • Approve or deny member reimbursement requests within set authority level 
  • Evaluate member settlement proposals 
  • Evaluate future claim cost and establish judgment parameters for case reserves 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with WCRA members 
  • Advise and assist members in achieving cost-effective case management, including contribution, apportionment, subrogation, Social Security offset, etc.


Preferred Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience 
  • Two years of workers’ compensation lost time claims experience 
  • Ability to make decisions and act upon them 
  • Good organizational, verbal and written communication skills 
  • Mathematical aptitude 
  • Detail oriented
